I made these cards in the last couple of days. The images are doodlebat fonts from When you consider how many images you get per font, they are very affordable. Not to mention totally and completely cute!! I love them all. They have fonts of every possible theme and style. Basically something for everyone. And no, they aren't paying me to say that.....if only :D . I printed mine at 150- 200 in Microsoft Word. I colored them with a mixture of colored pencils and markers, with a bit of white gel pen thrown in for good measure. I am on a polka dot kick right now. I think they add a touch of whimsy and I loves me some whimsy lol. Oh, I almost forgot, the lil ladybug on the pink flower is a Heidi Grace rub on. She just fit there so nicely. Thanks for stopping by and having a look. Hope you are having a fantastic day.

This post is for the birds!!

Literally :) I was opening windows this morning (actual windows, not the operating system lol) to let in the fresh, cool, morning air. A little sprinkling of rain won't keep me from airing out my house, stink be gone! Anyhoo, I get to my daughters room and open the blinds and there before me is a menagerie of birds surrounding the bird feeder we have hanging in the tree (and which my dear husband filled the day before). I stood there utterly fascinated by them. All the different varieties, the bickering, all of it was completely relaxing and interesting. I get the same sensation when confronted with a fish tank, I can't take my eyes away. I decided I needed to try to capture the flighty creatures on film.....or digitally as the case may be. I just clicked at random, hoping for something interesting. I have to say I got some dynamic shots! They turned out pretty well for having shot them through glass. Instead of using my usual "safe" auto setting I tried AV and I have to say, I like the results I got. I hope everyone is having a fabulous day! Thanks for stopping by :).
Mom, I am sure Thursday will be a piece of cake, but my thoughts are with you, as are my prayers. Be sure to call me and let me know how everything went. Hugs and kisses to you and Larry :) I love you both very much. I hope you enjoyed my birds :)

Working in Photoshop

I was watching Dani Draw yesterday morning when someone in the USTREAM chat room asked if any of us had seen Mark Crilley on Youtube. After her show was over (Dani inspires me to draw everyday, if you haven't checked out her show, you should. Tell her sleep_pea sent cha. You can also view recordings of her daily shows on her ustream page Here is a link in case you want to check her out, Dani Draws ;)I simply love her style and wish she would sell some of her images as digital stamps.), I went and checked out Mr. Crilley on He creates Manga (a Japanese graphic novel, typically intended for adults, characterized by highly stylized art.) characters in his videos which are easy to follow, and packed with information. He has videos that show a breakdown of placing the facial features. I think the part that shocked me the most is how much lower on the face the eyes are placed, compared to where I generally put them. I added the video I watched, but there are several others to choose from, simply go to and do a search on Mark Crilley (or just click the links).

Armed with the knowledge from the video, I turned to Photoshop and my tablet and tried my hand at creating a character. This is the first one I did.....
Uhhhh yah. Damn lol. Uneven, big eyes and her chin is pointy as hell. It was fun drawing digitally tho.
This one is my second try.....

Again she isn't perfect but I think a lil better than the first, which is enough to keep me practicing, which is half the battle for me :). As always, thanks for stopping by!!! Before I go though, I would like to add a special Thank You to the artists out there, like Dani and Chris that so generously offer their skills up for the general public to read, watch, and absorb. I have learned alot.

Practice, practice, practice :)

No freebies today, sorry. I haven't had a chance to play with my tablet this weekend, hopefully tomorrow. I have however, been drawing on paper. Here are a few selections from today, yesterday and Friday. I am working on getting some personality into my faces. Pardon the crappy pictures, but I took em with my cell phone :) I know none of these are "perfect", Mostly, I wanted to post these to remind myself how far I have come with my drawings. I will have to take some pics of some of the first ones I did too so I can compare. Thanks for stopping by and taking a look.
I would also like to tell those of you who have posted comments on my last few posts, thank you so much. You really made my day!! I appreciate you taking the time to do that :D Hope everyone is having a great weekend, talk again soon. Love and hugs.

Another Free Digi Stamp :)

For some reason I have been drawing like mad the last couple days. I mean, I make it a point to draw something everday. But these last few days I have done little else. Aside from my daily routine stuff, which I race through as fast as I can so I can "play" with my pencil, pen and paper....and in turn my scanner, tablet and computer :) The tablet is getting easier, but it's still not completely natural to my hand, so while the lines aren't perfect they are getting better . Wow, was that the longest way of saying here is a new file I created? LOL. I hope you like it, I had fun making it!!! I is such a thrill to me to draw with my computer and have it look like what is on the paper version. I can't wait to see what more practice will bring. So, please download the file, create something using it and by all means show me!! I love to see the files in use. As always if you take the file, leave me a comment, they float my boat :)

A couple new freebies

I haven't been posting again. Sorry for that. I haven't been up to much, with the exception of learning to use my new Wacom Tablet. I was interested in drawing digitally, and although I am only minutely better at it than when I first plugged it in, I am enjoying the process. That's a good start in my book. Practice, practice, practice. So far I have learned 2 things. A) I am so glad I listened to everyone who told me to get the cheapest one I could find, in case I don't like it I am not out a bunch of money and B) There is a definite learning curve with the tablet. The hand eye thing is the hardest. But I think I have found some things that work for me. Such as? Placing the tablet in the same place each time I use it. Now, this may have been common sense for someone else, but I had to Google "beginner tips for first time tablet users" or something like that, to discover this very important tip. Placing it in the same spot and usually (meaning, for me), an equal distance from the monitor and on the same angle as the monitor works best for me. I also find it easier to draw on the left hand side of my images than the right, so I copy and paste when I can and rotate my canvas at other times. Digital is NOT paper that it for sure lol. To anyone out there that is learning to use a tablet as I am, the only advice I can offer you is, keep trying, don't give up. To anyone that uses a tablet and has tremedous results, hats off to you my friend, cuz it ain't easy. If anyone can offer any tips or helpful sites on using these things please feel free to link me to them via a comment or shoot me an email :) I use Photoshop CS2 and a Wacom Bamboo Fun Tablet.
Have I lost all my viewers yet? I hope not. I do have some files I have created using my tablet. Sorta. I drew these on paper, scanned them, and traced over the lines with my tablet. You have to walk before you run, right? I hope you like them. As always, these files are free for the taking, the only "cost" is taking a moment to leave me a comment, and they are greatly appreciated. Thanks for stopping by to have a look.
