The Pink Elephant Challenge #8

The Theme this week at The Pink Elephant Blog is Easter. I decided to paper piece this bunny. I kinda made up the pieces as I went. I think he turned out pretty good for freehanding :) I used Dimensional Magic on the easter eggs and jelly beans, and stickles on the greeting. I love a card with a lil sparkle ;)
Thanks for looking :D

Toilet Paper and Poo Charm anyone??!!!

Ok, I found something on Etsy that I simply had to post about. I laughed so hard when I saw this and decided I need one.....everyone needs one lol. Check out Komodokat on Etsy, there are such cute things there!! Perhaps you prefer cats?

I scrapped again....YAY!!! :D

I scrapped again and used photos of Sarah for the 2nd time in a row. I had fun creating this page, using a ton of pink and pretty things etc. I wasn't sure about the green on this layout, but I did like the unexpected pop of color. I cut the snowflakes from acetate with my Cricut. I love how they turned out. I also got to use my "pebbles", or "Skittles", or whatever those lil plastic dots are lol.
Journaling is interview style and says:
Mom:"Sarah, can you tell me why you like winter?"
Sarah:" Because I like to eat snow."
Mom:"Why?"
Sarah(smiling): "Because it melts in your mouth and it's goooood!"
Sarah: "I know another why, because it reminds me of my family."
Mom: "How does it remind you of your family?"
Sarah: "I don't know."
Sarah age 8

TPE Challenge #7

This week's challenge over at The Pink Elephant Blog is to use this sketch. This is my take on it. I used (for the first time) my Fiskars Embossing Plates on the background. I have had them for eons and never used them......until now. I wasn't (pardon the pun) impressed. I am contemplating the purchase of a Cuttlebug. There are some way cute embossing folders for it. I like cute :) Anyway, after embossing the cardstock I lightly sanded the raised bits. I also used my MM distress tool on the card edges. I love me some distress....on cards anyway ;) Thanks for looking!!
Cardstock: Imagine That!, Pattern Paper: We R Memory Keepers, Stickers: Martha Stewart Fabric Stickers, Lettering: Cricut Plantin School Days Cart., Ink: ColorBox "Chestnut Roan" Chalk Ink, Mini Brads: MM, Ribbon: American Crafts

I Made a Zippered Pouch.....hmmm something isn't right :/

Zipper? Check. Cutie fabric? Check. Big enough to fit anything besides change? Errmmm....not so much. At least I know what I'm doing now.....kinda. Next time I will make the zipper longer and the fabric squares bigger. Another thing I didn't think about was making the liner fabric a bit longer than the outside fabric , see my liner stops short of the bottom of the outside of the pouch. Not that you can tell from looking at it, but once you stick a finger in there(if you can fit a finger in there lol), it's very clear.

Purse -VS- Wallet

I get so tired of my purse slipping off my shoulder when I am shopping. Besides that I never find a purse that I really love. If the shape is nice, the strap is too long. Strap fits perfectly, the color is hideous. So I have decided that I will merely carry a wallet or pouch in my pocket. Sounds an easy task right? Hunting up a lil pouch that I can stash my cash, cards, etc in. I found a few I liked on Etsy. But....$$$$$ cha ching. So instead I turned to my trusty Google search box and typed in Zippered Pouch Tutorial. I hit the jackpot on the first click. I found a site with just the info I needed. It has clearly written directions and PHOTOS! I need to take a trip to the fabric store for some really cute prints. I wanna try making one of these. I've never sewn a zipper into anything, but she makes it sound so easy!! If you want to check out the directions too here's the link : Twelve22.org (photo is the sample from the tut, what cute fabric!) . If I can do it properly and it isn't too fussy, I may make more than one :) Wish me luck.

WhatChuTalkin'Bout Willis......Tower??!!!??

While watching the news yesterday, this story about the Sears Tower being sold came on. Sounds like it's changed hands several times over the years. Whatever, no biggy. UNTIL, this new owner decided the Sears Tower needed a name change. Not just any name...Willis Tower......Willis Tower?........WILLIS TOWER???!! I've never been to the SEARS Tower, never stepped foot thru the door, don't think about it at all, really. But it still sounds wrong to my ears. Change it back. That's all I gotta say about that.

Family Ties

I made this for my mom for Christmas. Her one request present wise was something homemade. I was wandering my local Hobby Lobby Store to find inspiration, when I came upon a Laced Card Kit and BAM I wanted to make one for my Mom........out of wood. This is what I came up with and my Mom loooooooooooooooves it. She told me it made her cry.....in a good way. I love that she loved it so much. It means so much to me that my mom likes my creations :). Love ya Mom.

I SCRAPPED!!!!

I finished the layout I started yesterday!! I love how it turned out. I really owe a great deal of thanks to my Cricut as it did most of the work :D How I love, love, love that machine. I've had this photo printed for a long time and never got around to scrappin' it....till now. YAY ME!! It's been awhile since my last page. It won't be so long till my next one.....hopefully :) Thanks for looking!!

Welcome to Dawn's House of Illness :(

3 out of 4 of my kids were plagued with puking, fever, sore throat, coughing, headaches and other symptoms I don't care to list. Sarah started feeling bad last Thursday, so I kept her home Friday. Ryan needed to come home from school on Friday because he got sick at school (in the cafeteria, I hate it when that happens, poor kiddo). Then Emily started looking a little off to me. The weekend was dreadful, for them. I can deal with most of the symptoms fairly well. It's the fevers that worry me, even a low grade one. Puking is........disgusting. I don't like doing it and I don't care to watch (or hear) others do it. But for my kids I will trudge into the bathroom and rub their backs and tell them it will be ok. Only for my kids. It's still traumatic....for me. Slowly they started to get back to their regular selves and today they are.....GOING TO SCHOOL!!! Don't get me wrong, I love my kids. BUT, after 5 days of waiting on them and making sure they are alright and have everything they need, I need a break. Here's hoping no one relapses. A day of quiet will be a nice change :)

Stuck on a layout....pooooooooo!

I currently have a layout on my scrapping table that refuses to "speak" to me. I know one of the problems is that I need to hook my Cricut to my computer. There is a bracket file just waiting to be used and the layout is begging for something like that. Nothing to it but to drag the computer in there or the Cricut out here. I'm just lazy, I WILL do it tomorrow. Then there is the problem with the colors in the photo not matching ANY pattern paper I own. I suspect a trip to the scrapbook store is in order. I am hoping it is a paper prob and not a missing mojo thing. I am just now starting to get back on the horse with scrapping, and I would hate to be bucked off so early on. Did that make any sense? Well, I know what I mean so that's something. LOL. Hopefully, said layout will make an appearance here tomorrow :)
Wish me luck.

Boo-Boo Kitty Card

Remember Boo Boo Kitty from Laverne and Shirly? The kitty on this die cut tag reminded me of it. Did I just date myself? lol. Regardless, I made this card this afternoon so I would have something to add to my crafty blog :) . I'm crossing my fingers that I can add a photo to this post. Thanks for the info Jeanne, I am so stupit sometimes lol. I entered this in a contest over at The Pink Elephant.
(Card created using: Pattern Paper: We R Memory Keepers, "Tiffany's" , Cardstock: Imagine That, Ink: Color Box "Chestnut Roan" Chalk Ink, Brads: American Crafts, Recollections, Cricut and SCAL Software)

Hot Diggity Dog, I have a blog!!

Ok, so I still have alot, alot, alot to do here. But it's officially official..... I have a blog..... Now to make it pretty, informative (hahaha ya right), and riddled with photos. I can see it in my head, now I simply have to translate it down to my fingers and into my puter ;) how hard can that be? I'll just pester my BFF until she takes pity on me and learns me all I need to know. Now how to add a photo.....Oh Jeanne??!!!???
