I made these cards in the last couple of days. The images are doodlebat fonts from http://www.letteringdelights.com/. When you consider how many images you get per font, they are very affordable. Not to mention totally and completely cute!! I love them all. They have fonts of every possible theme and style. Basically something for everyone. And no, they aren't paying me to say that.....if only :D . I printed mine at 150- 200 in Microsoft Word. I colored them with a mixture of colored pencils and markers, with a bit of white gel pen thrown in for good measure. I am on a polka dot kick right now. I think they add a touch of whimsy and I loves me some whimsy lol. Oh, I almost forgot, the lil ladybug on the pink flower is a Heidi Grace rub on. She just fit there so nicely. Thanks for stopping by and having a look. Hope you are having a fantastic day.

What a wicked web we weave

I wanted to post this picture I took of a spider web this morning, just after it rained. I thought it looked cool. Thanks for looking.

This post is for the birds!!

Literally :) I was opening windows this morning (actual windows, not the operating system lol) to let in the fresh, cool, morning air. A little sprinkling of rain won't keep me from airing out my house, stink be gone! Anyhoo, I get to my daughters room and open the blinds and there before me is a menagerie of birds surrounding the bird feeder we have hanging in the tree (and which my dear husband filled the day before). I stood there utterly fascinated by them. All the different varieties, the bickering, all of it was completely relaxing and interesting. I get the same sensation when confronted with a fish tank, I can't take my eyes away. I decided I needed to try to capture the flighty creatures on film.....or digitally as the case may be. I just clicked at random, hoping for something interesting. I have to say I got some dynamic shots! They turned out pretty well for having shot them through glass. Instead of using my usual "safe" auto setting I tried AV and I have to say, I like the results I got. I hope everyone is having a fabulous day! Thanks for stopping by :).
Mom, I am sure Thursday will be a piece of cake, but my thoughts are with you, as are my prayers. Be sure to call me and let me know how everything went. Hugs and kisses to you and Larry :) I love you both very much. I hope you enjoyed my birds :)

Working in Photoshop

I was watching Dani Draw yesterday morning when someone in the USTREAM chat room asked if any of us had seen Mark Crilley on Youtube. After her show was over (Dani inspires me to draw everyday, if you haven't checked out her show, you should. Tell her sleep_pea sent cha. You can also view recordings of her daily shows on her ustream page Here is a link in case you want to check her out, Dani Draws ;)I simply love her style and wish she would sell some of her images as digital stamps.), I went and checked out Mr. Crilley on YouTube.com. He creates Manga (a Japanese graphic novel, typically intended for adults, characterized by highly stylized art.) characters in his videos which are easy to follow, and packed with information. He has videos that show a breakdown of placing the facial features. I think the part that shocked me the most is how much lower on the face the eyes are placed, compared to where I generally put them. I added the video I watched, but there are several others to choose from, simply go to youtube.com and do a search on Mark Crilley (or just click the links).

Armed with the knowledge from the video, I turned to Photoshop and my tablet and tried my hand at creating a character. This is the first one I did.....
Uhhhh yah. Damn lol. Uneven, big eyes and her chin is pointy as hell. It was fun drawing digitally tho.
This one is my second try.....

Again she isn't perfect but I think a lil better than the first, which is enough to keep me practicing, which is half the battle for me :). As always, thanks for stopping by!!! Before I go though, I would like to add a special Thank You to the artists out there, like Dani and Chris that so generously offer their skills up for the general public to read, watch, and absorb. I have learned alot.
